Description

The plant's backbone electrical distribution system is the 4,160 volt system, which supplies power to the largest loads (e.g. reactor coolant pumps) as well as the transformers that serve the 480 volt system. Like a typical thermal or nuclear generation plant, OPEN100 utilizes a medium voltage distribution system to efficiently power the largest motors while reserving lower voltages for smaller equipment. The medium-voltage system has been designed such that the failure of any one individual feeder or bus will not require emergency procedures or shutdown.
