Description
The Main Steam System transports high pressure, superheated steam from the NSSS to the Steam Turbine. The piping and valves are sized and routed in such a manner that there is minimal pressure loss but flexibility to compensate for expansion due to the heat added from the steam’s operating temperatures. This includes a bypass system that routes the steam directly to the condenser during startup and to permit the reactor to maintain load for an indefinite amount of time in the event of a turbine trip.
