Aux Cooling Water Pumps

The auxiliary cooling water pumps circulate water in a closed loop that serves as a method of cooling major equipment in the plant. The pumps are single stage centrifugal pumps sized for 50% of the design heat load but configured for all three to operate with variable speed drives that adjust speed to maintain a constant discharge pressure. If one pump is removed from service, the remaining two would increase speed to maintain the system at full capacity, thus adding redundancy to the system.
