Containment

The Containment is a building structure with a reinforced concrete design for the base, walls, and roof. This structure provides a central aesthetic feature of the plant and houses the reactor, pressurizer and reactor coolant pumps. The smaller size of OPEN100 allows the layout of the building to also include an area dedicated for the storage of spent fuel and an overhead crane sized to support refueling operations.
