Description
Turbine Gland Steam Condenser
The turbine gland steam condenser is a heat exchanger that uses a partial flow of the condensate system through tubes to condense steam drawn from the steam turbine’s shaft seals. The condensed steam flows into the condensate receiver tank and the non-condensable gases are vented to the atmosphere. The equipment provides some small thermal benefit but this is secondary to the control of steam and air through the turbine seals.
