Description

Unit Auxiliary Transformer

The unit auxiliary transformer (UAT) interfaces between the 13,800V output of the generator and the 4,160V system which powers the mechanical equipment in the plant. The UAT is a standard piece of equipment in any thermal or nuclear power generation plant that allows the internal plant loads to be powered from the generator itself. The OPEN100 plant uses both a UAT and a reserve auxiliary transformer (connected to the utility grid) to provide two independent sources for the internal plant loads.
